Bimbo Jones began as studio partners Lee Dagger and Marc JB. Lee’s background lies in
Djing, which he was drawn into in the early nineties after hearing the likes
of Sasha, Carl Cox and Massive Attack at those now infamous free parties.
Meanwhile, JB started out playing thrash guitar in underground clubs, before
becoming the accomplished multi-instrumentalist he is today. The boys have
rapidly become the UK & US Number 1 remix team having reworked the likes of
The Killers, Wale & Lady Gaga, Keri Hilson, Kayne West & Ne-Yo, The Pussycat Dolls, Usher, Tom Jones and Annie Lennox to name but a few. They've had over 30 Club Number 1's and sat at the UK Commercial Chart Number 1 spot for two consecutive weeks with their co-production skills on Meck ft Leo Sayer “Thunder In My Heart Again”, a former Pete Tong Essential new tune.
They're currently co-producing with the legend that is Sergio Mendes and also co-writing with Cyndi Lauper.
However, it was only after the pair’s introduction to South London
songstress Katherine Ellis that Bimbo Jones the band was born. Katherine’s
extensive credentials include touring with Roger Sanchez as a featured
vocalist, four chart hits with the Ruff Drivers, work with Dave Lee under
his Raven Maize guise and the massive Salsoul Nugget hit “If You Wanna”. As
so, she continues to be one of the most respected and versatile vocalists as
well as topline writers in the industry today.
After leaving the party at which they met, the trio headed straight for the
studio. Seven intense weeks later, and Bimbo Jones’ fusion of soulful,
uplifting, dirty but contemporary sound was formed. The enormity of the feel
good and humble vibe that these musicians and their music have to offer is
open to anyone and everyone. They were quickly snapped up by Tommy Boy and have been
successfully licensed to Happy Music (France) and Ego in Italy. Their debut single “And I Try” from their debut album “Harlem One Stop” hit the top spot in the US Billboard Dance Chart. Their second single “Freeze” is also climbing the chart nicely. It promises to be a Bimbo Summer!
